House Cleaned

Cleaners were in today and have removed the plastic film from all windows and stacker doors, mopped the bathrooms and tidied up our kitchen

Managed to get a proper look at our splashback and it looks good, although I'll admit it wasn't quite what I was expecting. We had intended on getting something grey to match in with our cabinets, however in some lights the colour looks almost olive (and i suspect this is due to the natural tint in the glass itself).

That said, I think it'll come together better once appliances and flooring are installed

Mmmm clean stacker doors

Splashback - happy with it although it is much more green/brown than our cabinets :(

Our lovely island benchtop without the covers - Caesarstone Ice Snow

Colours dont match, boooo

This picture probably reflects the splashback colour the best - looks greyish on it's own but then looks olive next to our cabinets

Love our big sink

AC return in hallway

Clean windows, ahhh

  1. Ohhhhhh it looks so sparkly and clean! Can't believe how quickly the last steps came together for you guys (might not feel that way for you though haha). I can see what you mean about the splashback, but then I think the shade is still complimentary to your cabinets. It doesn't have to be completely matchy and I think the look could change once you have appliances on the bench. So close to handover for you now :D

    1. aww thanks mel! im not hating the splashback as much now that ive looked at more - im just very fussy when it comes to colours and tones, ughhh. how are things going with your build? any idea of when benchtops will be installed? we're not really sure what is left to do on ours other than flyscreens, hot water system, last minute touch ups (gyprock/paint) and appliances :D

  2. Picking the right colours is sooooooo darn hard aint it? Not only that, we have to try and imagine them in our new home which is impossible when it aint even built by the time we have to choose. So we pretty much rely on what the colour consultant suggests and sometimes even they don't get it 100 % right. What looks good in the studio isn't always going to look great in the home (think different lighting). I personally think it looks ok and once your appliances go in, you'd be surprised at how much it'll change. Not only that but your own touches will make a difference too once you move in. Throw in a different colour all together to break it up and you'll definitely see a difference. Have you been given a hand over date as yet? must be very close.

    1. michelle you are bang on with this - so difficult picturing all the colours way back at selections. i will definitely be throwing in some colour to break up the greyness - im loving splashes of teal and yellow lately, so perhaps a bright fruit basket or bowls are in order :D

no idea of handover - PCI is happening 15 april (i THINK) so i guess not long after that?

your pool area looks incredible by the way, what an amazing retreat in your very own backyard!
