Kitchen Cupboards Installed & Tile Delivery

Thanks again to the nice tradesman who let my dad in go take photos!

Very pleased with how they look. Had no idea the kitchen island had cupboards in both sides - yay for surprise storage

Cupboards Delivered

Due to be installed tomorrow :-)

Delivery guy kindly let my father in to take some photos - kitchen overheads are glossy white with no handles (Polytec Createc in Ultra White), kitchen island/everything else are a mid toned grey with silver handles placed horizontally (Polytec Strata Grey)

No good pictures of the bathroom cupboards, however they are a very light grey which looks almost white (Polytec Amaro). Feeling very uncertain about the bathroom cupboard selection and wishing I had gone for something darker like Polytec Cavia Lini :-(

Also got a laundry tub delivered, how exciting haha

It's a Big Door Handle!

Completely locked out today so had to settle for shiny things on the exterior

Doors, Architraves & Skirting

Today's mission was getting into the house through Bedroom 3 as more waterproofing was put around the bath area. And again I was wearing a skirt and again I regretted the decision.

Not only was there waterproofing but little frames have been installed around the wet area for the shower screens and tiles.

The guy who installs the architraves/doors/skirting got a whole lot of work done today, completing almost everything except for a door or two and some skirting. He anticipates it'll all be finished tomorrow and then it's onto the next job - no idea what that is though. Perhaps door handles or kitchen cupboards?

Skirting in home theatre - reaaalllly not looking forward to doing this ourselves in the main living area

Lock Up

And just like that, we were locked out of our house.

And by locked out, I mean today was the first time I had to climb through the bathroom window (in a pencil skirt) to get into our build.

For those who are wondering - our doors have been key locked so we can't just undo the latch. I may have strategically opened some windows for future access ;-)

Front door is on and looking good, although I wish we could have had the 1200m size (doesn't fit in the Avoca). I think our frame may need to get replaced though as it has been left out in the rain and is pretty warped. As you can see in the photo below there are some significant gaps either side of the frame but not sure whether this will be covered by a trim?

Internal doors and architraves have been delivered and must be getting installed this week.

Anxiously awaiting a kitchen cupboard delivery!

Garage Door & Waterproofing

Productive start to the week!

Our beautiful Caoba door was installed today and is looking stunning.

Waterproofing was completed in our wet areas (wow the smell of that stuff is lethal haha) and our fancy trilock handle for the front door was delivered.

Installation of kitchen cupboards and doors all happening this week with wet area tiling scheduled for next Thursday (27/2)

Tried to suss out handover dates, one because I'm nosy but also so we can arrange flooring through Harvey Norman. Mark told us we should be in by late April however I'm hoping he is being overly cautious with dates and that we'll be in earlier in the month.

Cornices & Flooring Choices

Not much progress this week however I suppose this is to be expected now that work has moved inside. Everyone keeps mentioning that this is where things slow down and I'm not really sure what is next on the agenda for our build.

Cornices were completed this week and are looking very nice. We went for the standard cornice as we dont like anything too fussy.

Dropped into Harvey Norman last week who will be doing our flooring after handover. We will be getting bamboo through the main living areas and then carpet through the bedrooms/hallway/home theatre

Now I'm just sitting and waiting for more works to commence and hopefully we'll have an idea of handover shortly. We were initially told mid May but I'm hoping we'll be in by April

Internal Work Begins

What a productive week!

On Monday our gyprock & cornices were delivered and insulation started

So much gyprock

Insulation

Gyprock has been put up through the whole house and is looking good so far. I understand now when people say that gyprock turns the house into a maze - I have been so used to seeing from one side of the house to another through the walls.

I have been very nervous about gyprock making the house seem smaller but it has been the opposite - the ceiling now seems exceptionally tall and the rooms sizes are what i envisioned or bigger.

Again, I echo my earlier statements about being glad we never opted for a polished concrete floor. The floor is MESSY and there are already chips out of the slab from where tools have been dropped.

Gyprock everywhere

Garage

Entry

Kitchen - fridge space and WIP (with 'heatproof' red gyprock)

Great room - TV recess

Home theatre - 'soundproof' yellow gyprock

Hallway to main bedrooms - we have raised the ceiling height but kept door height standard (still wonder if we should have changed this)

Great room looking towards hallway to main bedrooms

A door for ants i.e. the door for our toilet (ensuite) prior to the top sheet of gyprock being trimmed
